Stress is a common part of life, and every woman feels it from time to time. It isn’t all bad - stress is simply our body responding to change, and at a healthy level, it can give us the energy and motivation we need to succeed.
But, when we don’t deal with our stress properly, it can have a huge impact on our physical and mental health. From headaches, to difficulty sleeping, to long-term effects like heart disease and obesity, the side-effects of chronic-stress aren’t pretty.
Stress can also leave its mark on your skin too. If you’re experiencing dry skin, wrinkles, acne, dark circles or a dull complexion, it may be a sign that being overwhelmed is manifesting itself. A powerful, natural skincare routine can do wonders to remedy those problems, but the only way to experience lasting results is to deal with the stress you’re experiencing.
Our goal shouldn’t simply be to reduce our levels of stress, but to also increase our levels of happiness, contentment, and confidence too. To reframe our thinking, and learn to prioritize our own physical and mental health above the burdens and challenges we’re facing in our day-to-day life.
That’s where we find true balance between stress and rest. To help you do exactly that, here are 4 Do’s and Don’ts you can implement into your everyday life to start decreasing your stress and boost your happiness!
DON’T neglect your own self-care.
DO remember to shower yourself with some extra love, attention and care when you’re feeling stressed. From a nourishing skincare routine, to a calming walk in the fresh air, to a self-care afternoon with a good book and a hot bath - set aside at least 10-minutes every day to unwind and love-on yourself.
DON’T stay up late trying to get things done.
DO make getting 8-hours of sleep every night your top priority. You don’t need more hours in the day, you just need better productivity during the ones you’ve got, and sleep is your number one way to do that. A good night’s sleep improves your immune system, focus, creativity, health, skin, and so much more!
DON’T stop moving your body.
DO keep active in some form each day. Exercise lowers your level of stress hormones and gives you time to focus on something other than work, life, family, or whatever is causing you stress. Whether it’s a brisk walk, a class at the gym, or a simple stretch session from the comfort of your home, getting your body moving will do wonders.
DON’T bottle your stress up, and avoid sharing with others what you’re going through.
DO lean on your support system of loved ones. Friends and family are amazing at giving us a fresh perspective on our struggles, or offering a distraction from the burdens weighing us down. Send a text, make a call, or organize a coffee date with someone you love and trust soon.
At Aluril, we believe that you deserve to put yourself first - not just now and then, but every single day.
